The college outbreak

In the past few days there has been a massive breakout all over the US and there has been very bad outbreaks especially in SoCal at colleges such as UCLA and SCU. The college outbreak was huge and over 1000 people including students and staff were potentially exposed to the virus and were asked to be quarantined and refrain from contact with others. The numbers also show that 2/3 of the universities were quarantined. Many are being cleared after showing immunity to the disease due to prior vaccinations, which brings attention to the debate on whether people should be required to get vaccinated before entering school.
Many debate against having their children being vaccinated before school due to religion or other personal or health reasons, but this puts their child at a higher risk of getting this disease, and also other kids as their kids may if infected transmit the disease to others. Personally I think that all of the kids should get the vaccination for health and safety reasons as I think that otherwise kids health are at risk. But everyone has differing opinions, I just want what safest for kids. Although we see the debate has to do with the children, if a child that is not vaccinated gets infected their teachers, school staff, family, and anyone they are around are now at risk of catching the disease from them.
The outbreak is going on all over the states and has been reported in 22 states, with 704 cases all over the US. Which is the highest the numbers have ever been since 200 when the health officials had supposedly "got rid of the measles." But none the less, this is such a big crisis right now as many are being effected.

  1. This is a very well written article and I liked how you told the facts before you told us your opinion. I believe this entire vaccination debate is dumb. People should vaccinated their kids because it keeps the rest of society safe. These diseases, measles, smallpox were gone because people got the vaccines for them and were safe. The debate I see the most against Vaccines is that it causes Autism, not only is that factually incorrect it is offensive to kids with Autism because it is saying that you would rather have your kid potentially die of measles than have Autism. This is not just putting one kid at risk it's putting the population into harm, these disease are very contagious and dangerous. We have to keep herd immunity around for the kids who medically cannot get vaccinated.
